Victoria hospitals hit by ransomware

I have published in the past a number of blogs discussing specific industries being targeted by ransomware. If you do not remember them you can find a few below:

Ransomware is still out there, and businesses are finding themselves fighting the same battle over and over again.

Remember when a Victorian hospital was hacked not too many months ago? Well, now it is the time of regional Victoria Hospitals.

Several regional hospitals in Victoria were targeted with a sophisticated cyber attack which brought down their computer systems. Some of the hospital targeted were Warrnambool, Colac, Geelong and others.

It looks like that this incident shouldn’t come as a surprise as a previous Victorian Government enquiry found staff awareness weaknesses, which increases the likelihood of success of social engineering attacks.

Is your staff properly trained? Are they aware of the current threats? if not, you may be sitting in a timing bomb waiting to be detonated.

If you need help on training your personnel, give us a call or click here to learn more/submit an inquiry and our account management team will be more than happy to discuss your options.

And as always, be safe out there until the next Malware Monday.
