New Porn Law…

I know, I know… I haven’t lost my mind yet. However, I believe that you are wondering about the relationship between porn laws and security? Just give me a minute of your time and keep reading….

As you may be aware there was already a law regarding non-consensual sharing of intimate images in the past. Well, The Enhancing Online Safety (Non-consensual Sharing of Intimate Images) Bill 2018 passed the House of Representatives very recently, on 16/8/2018.

I believe that this new law is very good as they are trying to crack down on ‘online creeps’. At the end of the day, sharing non-consensual images is a violation of a person’s freedom and dignity.

Are you still thinking about sharing ‘that photo’? think again. The new law an individual may be subject to civil penalties of up to $105,000 and corporations up to $ 525,000.

In addition to that, and in accordance with the Criminal Code Act 1995, you can face jail sentences of up to five years, or even seven years for repeat offenders.

As you can see there are more and more regulations trying to protect individuals’ identity and privacy. And this one is one more to remember.

Do you agree? disagree?

Until next Malware Monday. Be safe out there.
