Microsoft Tech Support Scam

Have you received a call from somebody trying to impersonate the ATO to get you some money? or have you heard of this situation happening in the past?

Well, this next one has been around for quite some time as well. This happens when you receive a call that looks like a Microsoft Tech Support engineer trying to fix a problem on your computer. At the end, they will ask you money for some licenses you need to “protect” your computer from the bad guys.

Unfortunately, most of those calls originate from overseas and are difficult for local and federal police to track.

Well, not all is bad news, law enforcement officials in India raided 16 call centre locations that conned primary American and Canadian victims.

Those call centres pretended to be affiliated with companies including Microsoft, Apple, Google, Dell and HP.

Just remember that if you receive any unsolicited call asking for accessing your computer, just hang up, and call your IT support company to confirm whether or not you have a problem.

Be safe out there, until next Malware Monday.
